Christmas In July

Day 1:
Enjoy lunch on own at the Country Cupboard Restaurant, in Lewisburg. Next a visit to the Pompeii Street Soap Co. in Mifflinburg where fresh, gourmet bath and body products are hand-crafted. Learn about the products while enjoying a soap-making demonstration in the production room, then browse among the store's product line featuring fragrances such as espresso truffle, fresh fig, ginger bliss, lavender, lemongrass, chai, sweet orange and patchouli, and more! A special gift at the end of the tour will be included for everyone. (Please note this is a production facility and depending on the production schedule there may be a strong odor of scents in the plant although this is usually not the case.) Enjoy a workshop tour, candle-decorating demo and browsing at Colonial Candlecrafters, Lewisburg. (Please note this site does not have public restrooms.) Arrive at the Comfort Inn in New Columbia to check-in and relax. This is two-level facility with stair access. Enjoy a wonderful visit to the Victoria House Restaurant, a 19th-century showpiece, in Lewisburg. There you'll be treated to a dinner featuring Prime Rib or Chicken Dijon. A storyteller joins group for the reading of "A Cup of Christmas Tea" during dessert. This heart-warming tale reminds us why we should take time to enjoy the holiday season (D)

Day 2:
Enjoy a hot breakfast buffet at hotel. We visit to Kohl's Stony Hill Tree Farm in Milton for a wonderful behind-the-scenes peak at a Christmas Tree Farm in action during the "off season." You'll learn how Christmas trees are raised from planting to harvest, about different kinds of trees and why the farm owners have chosen specific types to raise, and about some of the equipment used in farming of the trees which could include planting, trimming, spraying and harvesting equipment. You'll also see how live wreaths are made at the farm, enjoy the owner's tree stand collection featuring over 300 items, and browse among a vast selection of ornaments displayed on decorated trees. Visit Clear Toy Candies in Danville, PA, in the home of Kay and Bob Heim. They'll tell you all about this PA German tradition and show you old-time molds as well as new ones, plus demonstrate how the candy is made. Plus you'll be able to take home samples! Enjoy a meal at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Bloomsburg. Everyone will receive a $15 gift card towards their meal and/or browsing in the gift shop. Group members will be any additional charges above the value of the gift card and may also take the gift card with them to use at any other Cracker Barrel if a balance remains on the card after this use. Enjoy a visit to Rolling Hills Red Deer Farm in Catawissa where you'll learn about Red Deer during hayride into the farm's rolling fields on farm wagons. Tour also includes chance to feed the animals during the wagon ride plus visit the small on site gift shop for snacks after the ride. Mid afternoon we depart for South Jersey. (B, L)
